L’oreal Paris True Match Genius in G4 Golden Beige Review

When it comes to drugstore foundation, a lot of my blogger friends recommend L’oreal. I can definitely attest to that because I used to have the true match liquid foundation and I love it.
I am amazed how L’oreal is always keeping up with the trend and updating their line to provide us more options for makeup. They just recently launched a new product True Match Genius which is said to be 4-in-1 primer, foundation, concealer in 1.

The labels days that it smoothens skin surface like a primer, for a never-before velvety finish. It also glides and unifies like a fluid foundation, thanks to innovative ultra-gliding texture. It covers imperfection like a concealer, for 100% perfect canvas and finishes like a refined powder for 12hours lasting perfection.

Packaging is simple and sleek. It also comes with a sponge and a mirror.

My thoughts?

My shade match is G4 Golden Beige. I’m NC40 with MAC by the way. One of the things I love about L’oreal is the ease of finding your perfect shade. I swatched only two shades and was able to determine which fits my skintone. They truly live to their tag line True Match.

I prefer applying the product using my fingers. The sponge will take up most of the product and you don’t want to waste it that way right? It is undeniably true that it glides smooth to your face. The texture is cream to powder so don’t worry about possible creasing.

I copied Solenn on the L’oreal ad where she just tap the product to the face’s key points and spread it in an outward motion. I added more product to the areas that needs more coverage.

Based on my observations, a primer is still needed for me. I have a very oily t-zone and I work long hours so I need my makeup to stay put. I love the coverage because it’s buildable. So for me it pass the test of being a foundation and concealer. And yes it yields a velvety powder finish but again to make sure that it stays on my face I still put a very light translucent setting powder just to seal the deal.

For the staying power, I was pretty impressed that it lasted more than 5 hours without being oily. I use to stay away from cream type foundation because it will cause more oiliness and creases after a few hours but since this one is cream to powder type, it can suit any skin type. The only thing I see here is it has a tendency to be patchy if not applied evenly. So make sure you have enough time to work on your face base because it brings a lot of difference on how you look.

Overall, I like to recommend this to students and working girls or anyone who loves to be practical and has an eye for multi-functional products. It can save money and time. This is my current to-go foundation because it feels light and smooth.

Price: Php500 (discounted), original price is Php600, L’oreal, SM Beauty Section

  2. A both love & hate for me. I love kasi “true match” & long staying. Hate kasi, i dunno, maybe im just used to using cc or bb creams that really gives off a powdery smooth non sticky feel. With this po kasi khit niapplyan ko na ng truematch powder or magique bb powder.. hindi pa rin po ganun ka flawlessly smooth and powdery ang feels. I even tried kung spray-an ko ng mist. Same pa rin. Kaya i need to apply over pa yung blur cream fr maybelline. Kaso heavy naman ang feels. Aigoo! Kaya i decided to alternately use it with my cc cushion na lang.
