Colourpop indeed dominated the world. They started from ultra mattes and then released satins, glossy- and now a metallic version!
I was very excited when they first released the line, but I saw NikkieTutorials Worst Products video and she mentioned this. I was a bit sad and moved on. But just recently I got gifted the shade Kween and will let you know below my personal opinion about the formula and all.
According to website description:
Ultra Metallic Lip A super intense metalized liquid lipstick created with high-impact metallic pearls. This formula is not completely transfer-resistant but is very long-wearing while still being smooth and comfortable on the lips.
KWEEN– One shade to rule them all, a marsala metallic with gold glitter
If you are familiar with Colourpop Ultra Mattes, the packaging is basically the same and has the usual Colourpop slight chemical scent.
Love at first swipe? No. Absolutely no! NikkieTutorials is right and on point on her description. The formula doesn’t seem to be very opaque. You need at least 5-6 heavy swipes to get the best of it. It is my first metallic liquid lipstick that is why I can’t compare it with others, but based on how it applies on my lips, it’s not my type at least. Why? The gold glitter is so uneven that it doesn’t really give a metallic look. Colourpop says to use a lip liner underneath to achieve fuller look but I don’t have a close shade for me to test.
Also, it’s not really the type of lipstick that you will wear on an everyday basis because it’s weird if you do.
In terms of the staying power, it transfers so bad! It is like you are leaving marks of glitter everywhere. It goes off almost after having a meal.
Overall, I think the concept is great and the choice of colors are good, however Colourpop may want to reformulate this liquid lipstick. I don’t mean to bash or throw stones with the company, I am just being 101% honest. I still love their lippie stix and ultra satins though- and oooh the highlighters are the bomb!
