Chica Y Chico Oil Clear Essence Review

One thing I have learned from my beauty journey is that it all starts with your skin. No matter how expensive or fancy your makeup is, the performance will still be based on the current skin type that you have. Being oil free can even be achieved by using serums or essence that has components that help reduce sebum production.

This product that I am going to review today came from Althea Korea’s Pore Care Box.

According to the website:

Oil clear essence contains various powder which controls excess sebum. It will keep oily skin fresh and mattified all day long. Pore Tannin Complex with quince; green tea, persimmon leaf, chestnut shell, nutgall and black tea makes pore healthier and recovers the perfect balance. Feel the skin like silk. Long lasting fresh skin is now yours!

How to Use?
After toner, gently apply only on the oily T-Zone or on the entire face.

Water, Alcohol Denat, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Pentylene Glycol, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Chaenomeles, Sinensis Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Diospyros Kaki Leaf Extract, Castanea Crenata Shell Extract, Rhus Semialata Gall Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Silica, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, 1,2-Hexanediol, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Arginine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, C12-14 Pareth-12, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Carbomer, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance(Parfum)

The 40ml product is housed in a blue glass bottle with a pump for dispensing.

For the scent, it actually reminds me of the Nature Republic Aqua Max Cream. It is light and kinda refreshing.

The texture is more of a primer than an essence. It applies easily and evenly. You will instantly feel that your face was mattified -again just like the effect of mattifying primers.

My thoughts?

I was not a fan of its texture when I first used it. I feel like I cannot continue layering other products because my face feels like it was set already. But after a week, I got used to it.

In terms of being effective. I noticed that I use less blotting tissues ever since I applied this to my night routine.

One good thing that I need to mention is that even though it is mattifying, it is not drying in any way. My face still feels hydrated after using this.

I also like that it is not sticky compared to other essences, it is not heavy on the skin at all.

Overall, I recommend this to girls who have an oily skin type. It may help your face feel sebum free for hours.

  1. This seems interesting to people who has oily skin like me. Does it act as primer too? Tho, you only applied it at night bcoz of its mattifying effect?
