I do have trust issues when it comes to drugstore foundations, why? Mainly because majority of the brands that I have tried looks okay upon application but greases up your face dramatically just after a few hours. So I was a bit skeptical when L’oreal Pro Matte line was released. I waited months and watched a lot of Youtube reviews before deciding to grab myself one.
According to the website:
L’Oréal’s Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation has an air-light texture with a demi-matte finish. This super gliding mattifying formula has a high water content for maximum comfort that lasts!
Contains Shine Defy Blotting Spheres that act like blotting paper, instantly absorbing sweat and oil without disturbing color pigments
The product comes with a transparent plastic tube packaging which I definitely prefer than glass bottles. It is perfect to bring for travels because of it’s small and lightweight packaging. It containes 30ml of foundation.
The consistency is not runny but also not tacky. It has a slight faint scent that is common for L’oreal bases.
Being an oily skin gal, I can attest that this product is really long lasting. It definitely holds up oil compared to other drugstore foundations that I have previously tried. It is also lightweight and provide a medium coverage. It is also true that it is demi matte. It’s matte but does not make your face flat or stiff like other matte foundations do.
I got the shade 106 and it is a good match but can still be a little orangey when I apply a lot. I heard some people are having a hard getting their perfect shade so I wish L’oreal will come up to shades in between the ones that are already available.
1. If you weren’t able to find a perfect shade match, try buying the two closest and mix them up.
2. This foundation sets quickly so make sure to blend fast.
3. Don’t put too much. It has the tendency to be a little masky and cakey.
4. For dry skin, moisturize before using this foundation. I noticed that it can settle to dry patches.
5. Works best with sponge or hand application. Skip the brush. You are welcome.
Overall, I am impressed with how this foundation control oil and provides a decent coverage at the same time. I even tried to use it without primer or setting spray and it still looks okay. I definitely recommend this if you are looking a good foundation at a drugstore price. Probably can compete with medium to high end brands in my opinion.
